1920 Born in Budapest, April 9th, as son of the mathematician Pál Veress
1938-1943 Studied at the Academy of Art, with the painter István Szőnyi
1943 First public showing at the exhibition by the holders of a grant for painting in Transylvania
1942-1943 Studies at the humanities faculty of Péter Pázmány University, Budapest
1943-1946 Military service and captivity in an American POW camp
1947 Married to Éva Deák, editor at the Hungarian Radio, later editor at the publishing house Corvina, translator
1948 March First one-man show in Budapest, then temporary withdrawal from art life because of communist art policy. Took job as translator with the news agency MTI
1950-1955 Birth of three daughters
1958-1968 Editor of an economic news bulletin, published by the Chamber of Commerce. One-man show in Genoa
1963 "Recommencement" exhibition in Budapest
1965 Study tour and one-man show in Paris
1969 One-man show entitled "Idols" in Budapest, participation in Szürenon and other avant-garde showings. Member of the Association of Artists
1969-1980 Senior editor of a financial daily, meanwhile exhibitions at home and abroad: in New York jointly with Oszkár Papp and Endre Bálint, in Poland and Germany. Study tours to France, the United States, India and Japan
1980 Retired from journalism. Further shows in Hungary and abroad, in Paris, Orly, with five other Hungarian painters
1986 Retrospective show of his life's work at the Ernst Museum, Budapest
1992 Full member of the Széchenyi Academy of Arts and Letters
1993 Széchenyi Academic Inaugural Show at the Budapest History Museum
1995 awarded the Small Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic
1998 Artist of Merit award of the Republic of Hungary
